spaceshiptwo-underside-viewGo! Go! Go!  SpaceShipTwo used its rocket engines for the first time today reaching speeds up to mach 1.2 and an altitude of 56,000 feet after blasting off from it’s carrier WhiteKnightTwo.  SpaceShipTwo soared upward for a whole 16 seconds before heading back down to Terra Firma in the Mojave Desert.

Virgin has been selling seats aboard their soon to be commercial spaceplane service which they hope to begin as early as 2014.  For a mere $200,000, you too can visit the cosmos.  Check-in and boarding will occur at Spaceport America in New Mexico.  Get in line now as the queue to get screened by the TSA is already incredibly long.
